About Courtney Smith, MS, RD, CDCES
I hail from the Florida Keys as a second generation native. I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. I completed my dietetic internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Through my clinical rotations, I solidified my interest in diabetes and completed focused rotations at the Eskind Diabetes Clinic at Vanderbilt. In 2012, I was minted as a Registered Dietitian and returned to the Keys to practice.
I have since worked in a diverse range of practice areas and patient populations including long term care as well as community and public health nutrition. I served as the sole clinical dietitian for Mariners Hospital of Baptist Health South Florida for over seven years where I was responsible for both the inpatient and outpatient nutritional care. I have held a specialty certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) since 2016. I received my Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from The University of Alabama.
With my clinical training and expertise, I can provide specific nutritional guidance for a multitude of medical conditions and health goals.
On a personal note, I am a former Division I collegiate runner now marathoner and IRONMAN triathlete. In my spare time when I am not training for my next race, I enjoy gardening, traveling, and skiing.
