Do you love apple pie and wish you could have it year round?

Well, that’s how I feel which led to the creation of this post.

You could certainly omit the brown sugar to make this healthier, but the whole idea is to simulate apple pie!

This is way easier than making apple pie. I have never really understood the saying “easy as pie”. Whoever originally said this must have been using a pre-made pie crust. Anyways, this is for everyone on Team Apple when it comes to all things fall.

apple pie filling or sauteed apples

Ingredients

Apple corer (optional)

Saute pan or cast iron skillet (shown here)

1 Tablespoon unsalted butter

2-3 red apples (honeycrisp, pink lady or whatever you have on hand)

2 teaspoons brown sugar

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

Directions

1. Core apples and slice into thin strips, as pictured above. I used an apple corer but it’s not necessary.

2. Heat pan on low. Add about a tablespoon of butter.

3. Add apples and let saute for a minute or two then add the brown sugar and cinnamon.

4. Saute apples until slightly browned and soft, similar to an apple pie filling consistency.

Serving Suggestions

Add on top of oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, or just consume as is!
